Sony Ship 700,000 Vita Units for JP Launch
Sony are being pretty candid so far on their numbers regarding the PlayStation Vita’s launch in Japan. However, Japanese media is reporting that Sony have shipped 700,000 units for the launch window.
The reports coming from Mainichi Digital claim that Sony had originally planned to ship 500,000 units for the Japanese launch, instead the company have upped this by an additional 200,000 units.
Various Japanese stores and websites had to stop taking pre-orders in order to avoid launch day disappointments. However, since the additional 200,000 units were guaranteed, it has been claimed there will be enough for anyone to walk into a store and buy one. Yay for surpluses!
