NPD: Xbox 360 Wins November
With November’s NPD numbers being crucially important given Black Friday mania, Microsoft will be pleased about the Xbox 360's performance.
A report from the NPD Group called Online Gaming 2012 has offered some insight into consumer behaviour. In a sample, as shown by the pie chart, 35% of gamers said they would purchase digital copies if they had the opportunity to do so. The results are pretty interesting.
Personally, if offered the same price, I’d go physical due to the artwork etc. from the box art. However, if 35% are willing to do this despite a same price, imagine how many more would be willing to if the digital copy was cheaper (which it should be).

NPD’s Gloomy Report
The NPD report for June was published yesterday and its all a bit doom and gloom. The report reveals a slump in the gaming market for both software and hardware compared to this time last year. However, the NPD report only covers physical game sales, excluding digital sales which are said to be nearly a quarter of the software market in the US.
inFAMOUS 2 to Top June NPD
A statement from SCEA’s Patrick Seybold today revealed that Sucker Punch Studios’ superhero sandbox is to top the June software sales. This comes ahead of the NPD figures for June which will be released to the public within hours. Here’s what Seybold had to say:
"According to the latest NPD report, PlayStation continues to see growth in software with a strong demand for exclusive PlayStation 3 franchise titles. The recently launched inFAMOUS 2 was the #1 software SKU in June."
This is good news for Sony and a great honour for Sucker Punch’s sequel. The full NPD figures should give us an insight into exact sales levels. Stay tuned for the full NPD reports.
